New Brunswick bluesman Keith Hallett returns to Lethbridge to play the Slice, Oct. 6.
It has been about five years and an album since he last visited.

His band features fellow Frederictoners Pete Rioux on keyboards, Rheo Rochon Jr. on bass and drummer Billy Brennan.

He grew up with harmonica/ Rhodes organist Peter Rioux and has been playing with the past six years and drummer Billy Brennan is relatively new to the band, joining the band about six months ago.

He noted they released their last CD two years ago, though the music is likely new to Lethbridgians.

In the meantime he is beginning work on a new CD.

“The last album we recorded all on tape. We didn’t use any computers at all. We’ll probably use the same approach for the new album,” he said.

“We’re exploring a little more of the psychedelic side of the blues. There’s a lot of experimentation. We’re influenced by a lot of the music from the ’60s to the ’30s,” he said.

“Our approach is based on the ’60s. Those styles are the foundation of most of the popular music from the ’50s and ’60s,” he said a lot of the  experimentation  comes from keyboardist Pete Rioux's love for jazz music.

“ And I’m pretty into old delta blues when it all comes together. So we’ll do that and play some new stuff,” he continued.

“ If people really dig the older styles of music, then they will probably dig what we’re doing,” he said.
There is a five dollar cover for the show, which begins at 9:30 p.m.
