“ We’re evolving a bit since we lost a member,”  said lead singer Patrick Codere,   from Calgary where they are getting ready to go to Banff for a two day run at the Rose and Crown as part of a quick tour.

“The tour got  off to a  rough start because I left both of my guitars after a show in Vancouver. I had to borrow a friend's guitar the next night in Kelowna and I rented one  in Calgary. But at least  they weren’t stolen, like I thought. It’s what happens when you're loading up gear in a frenzy,” he said.
He said the band’s  sound has moved from their more reggae influenced sound to a more straight ahead funk rock sound since lead singer Daniel Kingsbury left the band.

“ This tour is the first time I’m singing all night. It’s three sets and singing for thee or four hours, so well see how that goes,” he said adding Kingsbury will be missed.

“ He was the singer and guitar player, but he wasn’t really into the touring life and he wants to be an environmentalist. We totally support him,” he said.

“ But  now I’m the only lead singer. And when he left , we lost 50 per cent of our songs,” he said adding that lead to the  band  reevaluating over the summer and sitting down  and writing new music.

“Now we’re a mix of the Red Hot Chili Peppers and Thin Lizzy. It’s high energy rock music and we’re going into a more funk rock direction,” he said.

He noted the band spent the summer writing new material and  released an Ep featuring “Love Like Mine” and the B Side “Running Wild.”

“We’re recording with producer Paul Boechler and he’s a magician. The idea was create an EP but you never know what will happen,” he said adding the new music isn’t quite a reflective of the more straight ahead d funk rock sound they are working on.

“It’s exciting,” he said adding a lot of the lyrics are about girls.
“But they all have funky twist and there's one song about the end of the world,” he said.

The show begins at 9 p.m. There is no cover.
