The Saskatoon based progressive rock/ metal band will be playing their first Lethbridge show at Inferno with local metal bands Sacred Savage and the Avulsion,  Feb. 12.
“ We didn’t plan it that way, it just evolved from jamming together into  where we are today,” said drummer Calen Miller.

“Nobody asked Mozart why he didn’t have any lyrics,” quipped guitarist Justin   Thompson who, along with  Miller, guitarist Paul Hillacre and bassist Evan Knouse make up the Basement Paintings.

They released a self titled , eighth song CD in 2013 and an EP  “ Time Lapse City” in 2014. They are working on the follow up.

But first, they are embarking on a quick seven date tour which brings them to Lethbridge, Feb. 12. and includes stops in Calgary, Edmonton, Winnipeg, Brandon, Regina and back home in Saskatoon on Feb. 27.

“We’re going to record in the fall. But this tour will be a primer to  our music. It’s quite interesting,” said Calen Miller who said the band hopes to make a lot of new fans and establish contacts across Western Canada on this tour.

“ We break a lot of strings. The show is straight energy from start to finish,” Thompson described.

“ It’s going to be pretty interesting,” Miller added.

“ Hopefully we’ll meet a whole bunch of new fans,” Miller said.

Doors open at 9 p.m., the music begins at 10 p.m. There will be an eight dollar cover for the show.
