Are you entertained? You will be this week

As always there is a lot going down in this town this week, with festivals, concert series and  fundraisers. Plus live music returns to Casino Lethbridge this week.

 First of all, the Lethbridge  music community shows their love and support for one of their own at two very special  shows on Tuesday, Aug. 3.

 Richard Inman, got ripped off while he  was playing a gig this past weekend, a thief or thieves stole his truck, phone and wallet with this month’s rent in it

 The Owl open mic features some high profile local talent with Ryland Moranz, John Wort Hannam and Shaela Miller and many more performing.

 So far the line up is  8 p.m. Steven Foord; 8:20 p.m. Kevin Giron; 8:40 p.m.  Don Cassell (The Dark Wrangler); 9 p.m. John Wort Hannam; 9:20 p.m.  Ryland Moranz; 9:40 p.m.  Tyler Bird (Queen of the Worms) and Shaela Miller at 10 p.m.

 There will also be a silent auction featuring  donations from the Slice, Owl Acoustic Lounge, Populess, Sinking Ship Supply, Lauren Hart Yoga, Len Komenac  Art, Village Brewing, Scott Cook and more. You will even be able to bid on the items from home.

 Gabe Thaine’s  High level Variety Show at the Slice, Aug. 3 will also be a fundraiser for Inmann.

 

 The Centric music  festival returns on Wednesday, Aug., 4  with the Unconventional Trio (trumpeter Josh Davies, bass trombonist Nick Sullivan and pianist Deanna Oye) performing at the Sterndale Bennett Theatre for a limited audience, though it will also be online. Donors get first dibs for seating for the concert, which begins at 7 p.m.

 

 The Upside Downtown concert series continues at Casa. This Thursday, Aug. 5, Lemba will be performing from 5-7 p .m.

After that, the Ammena Dance orientation show begins at 7 p.m. at the Sterndale Bennett/ Yates Theatre, though the registration date was July 24.

 And after that, the Slice has their regular Thursday night open mic.

 

Things are cooking again on Friday night.

The West Side community church hosts Blessing the Children, a fundraiser for children in Ethiopia featuring performances by sopranos Olivia Earl, Sophia Makela, Lauren Reisig; guitarist Carson Froelich; tenor Spencer Van Dellen and pianist Cheryl Emery -Karapita. Admission is by donation. The concert begins at 7 p.m.

Local classic rockers The Chevelles hold court at the Coast Hotel for LA Chef’s Summer Sizzler. Doors open at 6 p.m., Cal Toth entertains during a barbecue dinner and the Chevelles kick off the party at 8:30 P.M. Tickets are $40-$50.

Honkers Pub has an evening jam on Friday night as well as an afternoon jam on Saturday.

 

 The Decadent Phase will help you get your psychedelic freak on at the Owl Acoustic Lounge, Friday Aug. 6.

The Slice goes back to metal and hard rock, Aug. 6 with Chernoff, Arae and Tainted Strain.

 

 Michael Moses will be making you laugh At Good Times, Friday and Saturday nights beginning at 7:30 p.m.

 

 And live music returns to Casino Lethbridge this weekend with the Mark Hall Band rocking the stage country style, Friday and Saturday night at 8 p.m.

Saturday Aug. 7 will be off the hook all day long.

 

 Live music returns to the Lethbridge Handmade Market at Exhibition Park. Wendy Erika Colby kicks things off bright and early at 9 a.m. followed by Kevin Giron at 10 a.m., Chris Ryan Drew at 11 a.m. and Corduroy Brown performing from 1 - 3 p.m.

 

 Arts in the Park goes all day and part of the night. This time the New West Theatre concert series will be at Legacy Park.

 Andrew Legg gives a sample of his Trader Tales with  A Half Glass of Vaudvillia at 2 p.m. followed by the Little Lethbridge Opera Company at 3 p.m., White Buffalo Singers at 3:15, Kyle Gruninger performing at 3:30 and Adequate getting funky at 4:30 p.m

This week there is also an evening show including a beer garden and beginning with The Little Lethbridge Opera Company at 7:15 p.m. followed by Ben Price magic at 7:30 and Theatre Outrées Impromptu winding things up at 8:30 p.m. Admission is free.

 

Theoretically Brewing has another early show at 7:30 p.m. with Willy Big Bull and Picture Postcard beginning at 7 p.m. Admission is pay what you can.


Give your feet a rest for a second, then pull your cowboy boots on because Red Deer roots and traditional country band Boots and the Hoots return to the Slice, Aug. 7 beginning at approximately 8:30 p.m.

 

Last , but not least, Shawna Lorraine hosts a family jam at the Coco Vanilla on Sunday, Aug. 8 and their usual Monday night jam on Monday, Aug. 9.
