Red Hot Hayseeds make hay with vintage country music

E-mail Print PDF

I just caught the end of  the Red Hot Hayseeds’ solid  show of jazz tinged western swing and vintage country music at the Owl Acoustic Lounge, Saturday, April 9.

They wound up a set of vintage ’20s, ’30s sounding country music, with a focus on stunning female harmonies from the talented Sydney Zadravec, Cathy Billington and  Dayna Lyn Moritz, who were dressed in vintage skirts and cowboy hats. They killed a stellar version of “ I Want to be A  Cowboy’s Sweetheart to end their show.

Tyler Allen held back, singing the odd lead vocal and adding subtle electric guitar while Keith Rodger held down the bottom end on upright bass.

They were without a drummer for this  show, which let those beautiful harmonies shine through.

They wound up the show with some fantastic yodelling.
