Lots of laughs, punk and trippy tunes this week

It’s another interesting week for live entertainment in Lethbridge.

 Luke James Bruce has a busy week of open mics. He hosts Mojo’s new Monday open mic tonight April 18 as well as will make his debut as host of Honkers Pub’s open mic on Friday April.22.

Johnny Reid plays the last of his three shows at The Yates Theatre tonight as well. The show is at 7:30 p.m.

The Owl Acoustic lounge’s weekly open mic is on Tuesday.

 

 And jazz is back at the Watertower with Paul Holden and James Oldenburg performing Wednesday April 20.

 

 In honour of 4-20 , Connor Christmas hosts a marijuana inspired night of comedy at Good Times.  High -Deas begins at  7 p.m. Tickets are $16..67. There will also be free pizza.

 There is a lot of 4-20 fun to be had, On April 20  PIGS: The Pink Floyd Experience takes you on a trip down memory lane with all your Floyd favourites at the Yates Theatre, April 20. The show begins at 7:30 p.m., Tickets are $54.50.

 Rock and Pop alumni night returns to the Slice on Wednesday with Scott Davidson and friends.

 

So You Think You Can Comic returns to the Owl Acoustic Lounge,  April 20 with Taylor Fulton Brian  Dawdniuk and more performing there is a $10 cover. The laughs begin at 9 p.m.

Montreal born comedian Akeem Hoyte Charles  provides the yuks at Good Times, Friday and Saturday at 8 p.m. each night . Tickets are $16.67.

 

The Slice is alive with the sound of punk music this week. Saskatoon hardcore band Alien to The Ignorant, Banff punk band All The Time Everywhere and Lethbridge Emo band Pomeranian Fight Club perform on Thursday, April 21. Doors open at 8 p.m. There is a $10 cover.

Friday will be an entertaining  and eclectic night.  Calgary nerd punk band the Galacticas return to the Slice to play with local favourites  the Hockey Moms and Sessions.

 

 While just down the road, Edmonton guitar whiz Billie Ziizi shares the stage at the Owl Acoustic Lounge with Makiisma, April 22.

 The Biggest show of the weekend is at the Southminster United Church on Saturday, April 23, where the Geomatic Attic will be  hosting Hawksley Workman.

 Workman will also be performing at the  South Country Fair this summer.

Tickets for Saturdays’s show are $45. Calgary roots musician Amy Nelson opens the show, which begins at 8 p.m. 

 

Steel Cut return to rock Casino Lethbridge this weekend, April 22 and 23.

 The Lethbridge Handmade Market returns to  Exihibition Park, Saturday, April 23 at 9 a.m. Admission is five dollars.

 

 By popular demand Cal Toth and Anna McBryan bring  duelling pianos back to Honkers Pub on Saturday. at 7 p.m.. Admission is $10 .

 Didi’s Playhouse always does things differently.

 

 This Saturday, they are performing an improvised fantasy inspired musical Trebl-Quest.

 

Erica Barr, Mark Ogle, Nicola Elson, Katie Fellger, Jon Kirsch and guest bard Greg Wilson will all be performing. The Medieval musical time warp begins at 7 p.m. Admission is pay what you can.

With spring finally on the way, knock on wood,  there will be music on the Canadian Brewhouse’s rooftop patio.

 

 Local alt rock band The Waterfront perform April 23 with special guests Danica Sommer, Jacy and 21st Avenue. Tickets are $25.

 

 The Owl Acoustic Lounge has an eclectic  Saturday with an early show with Regina dark folk musician Megan Nash and Bears of Hazenmore beginning at 8 p.m..

After that, at 10 p.m. they host a Record Store Day jam with Vinyl Richie and Jay Fresh.

The Slice turns things up and gets a little funky on Saturday, April 23 with Edmonton’s Hungry Hollow, alternative rock band Medical Pilot and local pop/ funk/ soul band Good Love Band.
