Lots of laughs and country music kick off June

 June opens with a whole lot of country fun.

 But first, Luke James Bruce returns to Mojo’s Pub to host  Monday’s open mic.

 

 The Sweet Inspiration Gospel Choir featuring Marcus Mosely returns to Southminster United Church, Tuesday, May 31. The concert begins at 6 p.m. Admission is $10. The Owl Acoustic Lounge’s  weekly open mic is also on Tuesday.

 Devin Gergel hosts the first open mic of the month at The Slice, Wednesday, June 1.

 

 June kicks off with a a lot of laughs and country music.

 

 Dylan Delaney performs a dinner time show at Two Guys and a Pizza Place at 6 p.m. It is comedy club night at the Canadian Brewhouse. Good Times’ Pro-amateur night is also Thursday, June 2 at 7 p.m. Admission is five dollars to see professionals and  newcomers come to make to laugh.

 

 Lori Ferguson -Ford returns to Good Times, Friday and Saturday, June 4 and 5.

 

The big event of the week is the return of the Windy City Opry  to the Slice for a special Thursday night show.

 

Local favourite Shaela Miller won first prize in this year’s Project Wild Competition- the fifth and final year of the program.

 

It is a through country artists development program open to artists all over the province, where artists learn about the music business, make connections and meet other up and coming country and roots artists.

 Miller is bringing back the Windy City Opry this Thursday, June 2 by bringing back some of the folks she met during the Project Wild Competition. Shaela  iller will be sharing the stage with Alex Hughes, Robert Adam, Drew Gregory, Devin Cooper, Kyle McKearney,NewLaw, Flaysher and Ryan Lindsay.

 

 The show begins at 8 p.m. Admission is $15 in advance $20 at the door.

 

The Owl acoustic lounge has a special night of indie rock planned for Thursday with Calgary’s Astral Swanns aka Mathew Swann, plus Raleigh’s Clea Anaïs and Kevin Giron. The show begins at 8 p.m. Admission is by donation. Local country band Train Wreck featuring Breanne Urban return to Honker’s Pub to host their Friday night open mic.

 

The Trippy Hippys return to Honker’s Pub to host the Saturday afternoon open mic.

 

L’Omellete returns to the Slice, June 3 to inject  crowd pleasing hits with a shot of jazzy saxophone.

 The Chevelles rock the place , Saturday June 4 with all your favourite hits.

 

 It is all about Societies at  the Slice on Saturday as local pop punk / alternative rock band the Suit Jacket Society and The Jack Butler Society, who took their name form the movie “The Crossroads,” will also be playing  some rock and roll.

 

Get your country on at the Enmax Centre, Monday , June 6 with an all star t line up including Dallas Smith, the James Barker Band, JoJo Mason and Meghan Patrick performing beginning at 7:30 p.m.  They financially get to play their rescheduled Some Things Never Change Tour.

 Tickets are $102, $97, $79 and $59.

 

 Hamilton funnyman, B.A Johnston returns to the Owl Acoustic Lounge, Tuesday, June 7  with Peace for Bombs and Foster Dollis.
