Dave McCann set the Slice on fire

E-mail Print PDF

I didn’t want to miss  the return of Dave McCann and the Firehearts, who played  a packed Slice, Oct. 16.Dave McCann and the Firehearts played an incendiary set at the Slice, Oct. 16. Photo by Richard Amery

I caught their inspired  second set which included a couple of my absolute favourite McCann’s alt country rock tinged gems including “Fireheart,” “Road to Cain,” and ” Tinseltown, ” which was a request which got people up and dancing.

Other highlights included an upbeat version of “Blood Pines” as well as “Sticks and Stones,” which got most people dancing. His band was tight, and played superbly.

I didn’t recognize the song they played after “Fireheart,” but it was definitely an up tempo highlight.
He ended his set with an incendiary  version of “When Leeroy Quit Drinking.”
