Moka Only and Kyprios rap the vote

E-mail Print PDF

Kyprios and Moka Only rapped the vote at Scores North, Oct. 16. Photo by Richard AmeryI couldn’t resist checking out “Rap the Vote” which featured rappers Kyprios and Moka Only at Scores North, Oct. 16.

The event was designed as a show of support for mayoral candidate Kay Adeniyi, so both Kyprios  and Moka Only sported “Vote for Kay’” t-shirts.
I arrived in the middle of a hot set by Kyprios who alternated between singing superb R and B and rapping.

He had several enthusiastic dancers in front of the stage  while much of the  rest of the room looked on placidly, though he exhorted them to come up to the front as well.

DJ Booda was spinning the beats and as far as I could tell, people were responding to it.

Moka Only joined Kyprios on stage for an energetic number whihc had poeple rapping along with them.

He got DJ Booda to play a medley of  Canadian hits including everything from Maestro Fresh Wes to BTO, then launched into “some more old school Sweatshop Union shit,” with a bluesy song called “I Got News For You, ” which had the audience singing along.
