Weekly concerts on Rotary Square at Casa every Thursday night after work from 5pm - 7pm. Meet your friends, have a drink and listen to local music in the downtown core.
While you’re listening, check out INSIDE OUT with artwork from 74 local visual artists including 2 installations in the Artist Kiosks, 5 shadowboxes on the flag poles and the SUMMER SALON - an incredibly diverse collection of art inside the building!
Artist Bio:
Shaela Miller’s spent over a decade in Alberta country, and no doubt, her Joan Jett vibe, songwriting chops, and outstanding vocal tone could have put her on a number of paths, but she’s never bowed to the constant, overwrought attention-seeking bombast so common to today’s country radio.
As one of the Canadian prairie underground’s most respected independent artists, Shaela Miller is playing the music she wants to, adding the elements that progress for her vision, while firmly grounded in that go-to sound generation after generation grew up hearing on AM radio in single-cab farm trucks; picked-up shuffles and sweet, yearning songs depicting both the good times and hard times that only get written by someone who’s lived every minute of them.
Miller’s upcoming LP, Big Hair, Small City, shows an incremental instrumental expansion from her previous full-length, 2018’s Bad Ideas. Amid the subtlety of Miller’s classic sawdust boogie, Big Hair, Small City, the latest single, shows her growing, record-cutting maturity, adding just the right elements to build a distinct Tennessee Noir.

Casa is the realization of a 20 year dream, shared by many in the Lethbridge arts community, to expand or replace the Bowman Arts Centre. This unique new facility far surpasses the original vision for expansion, and sets a new standard for interdisciplinary arts centres. It is about experimentation, incubation, learning and growing. Casa was built to serve a multi-generational community, with varying art skill sets and interests in all disciplines of the arts.

Designing the building was a comprehensive and collaborative process led by Nyhoff Architecture from (Calgary) working in conjunction with the local architectural firm of Ferrari Westwood Babits. The Architectural team visited numerous arts education institutions and also met with members of the local arts community to define requirements for a truly functional 42,000 square foot art centre. The resulting building design is truly impressive.

Funding for the project were provided by the Federal Build Canada Fund ($6,000,000.), the Provincial MSI Fund ($14,900,000.) and the City of Lethbridge ($200,000).
