The Chevelles always pack the Place, especially during Street Machine Weekend, where people are hankering for the hits.
The local classic rock veterans were excited to supply everything from classic rock to contemporary hits at the Place, Friday, July 8.
I arrived in the middle of a rousing version of “Spirit in the Sky”
Drummer Don Plettell sang Franky Valli and the Four Seasons’ “December 1963, Ooh What a Night ” as guitarist / vocalist Tim Carter sang the falsetto.
He took the lead on Trooper’s “ Raise a Little Hell.”
Bassist Joe Brewster (Seamus Chevelle) sang lead on ELO’s “Don’t Bring Me Down” and a couple more ’80s punk hits including Iggy Pop’s version of “Real Wild One” and Billy Idol’s crowd pleasing cover of “Mony Mony.”
They went modern for a moment with a coverer off the WKND’s “Blinding Lights” before going back to the ’80s with a cover of Prince’s “ Let’s Go Crazy.”
