A lot of punks often end up playing country music, so I’m always excited to see the result. On Aug. 19, Colorado born Drag the River, featuring  Chad Price of the punk band All, drove up from the United States to play “The Farm” northeast of the city.

 The Farm is where Shaela Miller and Treeline are busy recording their new CD.

 They were delayed crossing the border and you could tell they’re were in a mellow mood and wanted to take it easy and play mellow music.

However a good sized crowd was in the mood to rock, so they played a lot of upbeat,  catchy alt-country music along the lines of Uncle Tupelo and Wilco with just  touch of the Refreshments.

They didn’t say a lot on the stage. One of the show’s highlights “ Me and Joe Drove Out To California” which showed off some old school rock and roll riffs and excellent vocal harmonies.
