It was a good Friday on April 3 at the Owl Acoustic Lounge as perennial favourites Calgary rock band Go For the Eyes returned to play an upbeat , eclectic set of everything from pop and groovy riff rock to sultry jazz and smoky blues.

They played an abbreviated set as they were breaking in their new drummer from Lethbridge.

 The quartet were all the more impressive as co lead singer Elise Roller was battling a nasty flu bug as she still traded lead vocals with guitarist  Jeff Turner (Vocals/Guitar) ; Elise Roller while bassist Scott Perrin and new drummer Jacob Pasterfield locked in together.

 Elise Roller played some subtle keyboard lines until she took centre stage.

 
Their brief set featured lots of throbbing bass, several subtle textures and a lot of catchy riffs. Some of the many highlights included highlights “When the Lights Come On” and some of the smoky blues influenced songs like “What Are You Going to Do” and the sultry  “Drinking with the Devil,” slow bluesy, jazz, featuring Roller's huge voice.

“ All the Psycho Girls,” was  one of the more pop rock highlights  which reminded me a little bit of Blondie.
 They ended on a more energetic, upbeat note with an older rocker “Whiskey Cocaine.”
