Plenty of entertainment for all tastes this week

It’s another busy week with a variety of live entertainment happening. There really is something for everyone this week.

 

 The Owl Acoustic Lounge especially has something for everyone this week.

 As always, the week begins with open mics. The Owl Acoustic Lounge‘s open mic is tonight, Sept. 28 beginning at around 8 p.m.

 

The Slice has an open mic on Thursday instead of Australian born bluesman Michael Charles, who was originally scheduled to perform.

 

Jolene Draper hosts the open mic at Honkers Pub on Friday, Oct. 1 beginning at 8 p.m. And Whiskey Gap Country host Honkers Pub’s  Saturday afternoon jam beginning at 4 p.m., Oct. 2.

Thursday is rap night at the Owl Acoustic Lounge as they host Arts Marvels’ Rap it Up hip Hop Bash.

 

The night begins at 5 p.m. followed by a live performance from the New Testaments, who play a variety of contemporary pop, hip hop and R and b hits at 5:30 p.m. Rap battles begin at 6:30 p.m., trivia at 8 p.m. and final rap battles at 8:15. Open freestyle rap and dance floor is at 9:15 p.m.. admission is free, though you must register to compete.

 

 The big show at the Owl Acoustic Lounge is Shaela Miller’s CD release party for her new CD “Big Hair Small City.”

 

 The party begins at 8 p.m. with drag performances by Crissy Cox and Brandi Jayne followed by the Shaela Miller Band. Tickets are $20.

 If you are in the mood for some blues music, Coda Lite plays The Canadian Brewhouse on Friday at 8 p.m. Tickets are $10 including a bottle of domestic beer or highball.

 

 The Lethbridge Symphony Orchestra opens their new season on Saturday, Oct. 2 at Casa with Intima I— Revolutions in the Casa community room.  The concert begins at 7:30 p.m. with the Musaeus String quartet featuring guitarist Iliana  Matos. Tickets are $35.

 

 For the complete opposite of that, the Slice has a big punk show with Calgary’s Citizen Rage, plus local punk/ emo band Berserker, local punks the Scallywags and a solo set with Bob Scallywag.

Tickets are $15 in advance, $20 at the door.

 The show begins at 9 p.m.

 

 Another option for head banging is over at Club Lime, where local Metallica tribute Damage incorporated and Whitesnake Tribute Snake Bite, who perform Friday, Oct. 1 at 9 p.m. Tickets are $30.

Local rock band the Waterfront play the Slice, Saturday, Oct. 2 with Vessel and Tanner Cyr. Admission is by donation.

And Cal Toth is scheduled tp play Mojo’s Pub, Oct. 2.

 

For comedy, Good Times’ weekly comedy night is on Tuesday.

 

 Ed Hill and special guest Marito Lopez will be performing at 8 p.m. at Good Times on Oct. 1 and Oct. 2. Tickets are $15.

 The Canadian Brewhouse has started a comedy club night every Thursday beginning at 8:30 p.m. Admission is five dollars including a domestic bottle of beer or highball.
