Sessions show pop punk roots

The Slice has been all about punk for the past couple weeks, especially this past week.

I was looking forward to seeing Calgary nerd core band the Galacticas, who were trimmed down to a duo as their bassist was down with Covid, but I missed them as they were on first, April 22 at the Slice.

But I was in time for a rollicking set of snarling ’90s pop punk from local pop punk band Sessions with elements of Blink 182 , Green Day and the like. I was glad I caught them as I usually miss them as Sessions, but always catch them with their heavier hat on as Berserker.

I enjoyed hearing them them  show their more melodic, pop punk sound. There were plenty of punchy riffs and gang vocals

Berserker vocalist Jon Vornbrock joined Sessions on stage to sing a Gob cover.
