Bring in spring by improving your home, perhaps with a little help from the 2018 Home and Garden Show, taking place at Exhibition Park, March 21-24.

 “With the dollar being down, more people are staying at home and want a comfortable space perhaps adding a pool or hot tub or changing their back yards,” noted Doug  Kryzanowski, Exhibition Park manager of corporate relations and marketing.

“If the Ag Expo is the grandpa at over 60 years, then the home and garden show is the grandma at 42,” he said.
Exhibition Park has played host to the Home and Garden show for the past 42 years. Kryzanowski observed the event attracts an average of 20,000 people throughout the week checking out some 300 exhibitors.

 “We don’t have a waiting list this year,” he said.

“ But that (attendance) depends on the weather. Most of our audience are urban,” he said.

 There will be a cornucopia of vendors offering services and ideas for anything you can imagine.

“There are booths  for landscapers, home renovation, kitchen and cooking, accessories, clothing  and hair and spa items,” summarized event co-ordinator Lisa Ludwig, noting there will be no tiny houses this year, which have been a favourite of past Home and Garden Shows.

“Everything you want to  know about renovations and building and going camping is going to be available,” she added.

 The Burnco Landscaper challenge, a favourite of past fairs, returns to Heritage  Hall this year. Burnco challenged Lethbridge landscapers to create functional  backyard landscapes in Heritage Hall to show off their talents and show homeowners how it could improve their home’s value and living spaces.

 

The public can vote on their favourite. There will also be a variety of draws the public can enter including the major prize giveaway— a $500 gift certificate for the exhibitor of your choice, which will be at the information booth in the South Pavilion.

 Burnco has also provided the Burnco patio deck in Heritage Hall where you can rest your feet and enjoy a libation. Drinks will cost $5.

In addition to booths,  seminars and presentations have also been moved to the South Pavilion instead of Heritage Hall due to needing more space.

Healthy Soils Landscaping will be offering presentations on tree pruning at 2 p.m., March 21, 6 p.m, March 22, 5 p.m., March 23 and 2 p.m. on March 24.

Interior designers Jodi Nicholson and Deanna Heckley from Freddie’s Paint present a seminar on home trends, at 3 p.m., March 21, 7 p.m., March 22, 6 p.m.. March 23 and at 3 p.m. on March 24.
They are also giving a seminar on colour trends at 6 p.m., March 21, 3 p.m., March 22 and 23 and at 1 p.m. on March 24.
There is even a special seminar on planting sunflower and bean seeds at 10:30 a.m., March 24.

Admission is $7 per/ person and an additional $5 to park. Children under 10 get in for free.
