Description

Miesha and the Spanks are BACK! Calgary based Miesha's amazing voice delivers heartbreaking, confessional songs about love, loss and everything in-between. She joined us (Endangered Ape) for a few shows on our recent cross-Canada trek, and stole the show every time. If you haven't seen her yet, now is the time. http://www.myspace.com/mandthespanks

The Brenda Vaqueros  is comprised of Brent Crosson on guitar and vocals, Kenna Burima on the keys and vocals, Adam Kamis on guitar and vocals, Ian Tennant on monster bass, and lest we forget, Daren Powell on the skins. This quintet from the Stampede City are hopeless music junkies that have been performing their brand of psychedelic, twang-infused, garage rock for a couple of years now. The Brenda Vaqueros are a mix of seasoned vets and wide-eyed newcomers within the Calgary music scene and have emerged as one of Alberta's more interesting groups through their bombastic live sets. This show is the Lethbridge version of their LP release party, and should be fucking amazing. http://www.myspace.com/thebrendavaqueros

Hailing from the illustrious city of Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, AMERICAN FLAMEWHIP uses their gargantuan powers of rock to produce pure, unadulterated ferociousness. Trashy, snarlin' & streetwalkin' vocals, fiery high-voltage guitar eruptions, and all-out drum savagery is what American Flamewhip is about. Their sin-inspired anthems are guaranteed to robustly stir your wildest desires and feverishly fuel your thirst for all things decadent and hedonistic in life. Get ready for the rock with a capital ROCK....  http://www.myspace.com/americanflamewhip

The Moby Dicks, featuring a lineup of Lethbridge scene vetrans Joel Butler (The Void, Myelin Sheaths), Little Johnny Jewel (The Deadbeats), and Emily Deimert (Soy Captain, Coulees). Literally the best local band I have seen in ages (sorry other local bands, I love you, but The Moby Dicks just push every right button). Plus they have a song about Red Dog. Plus they have the shittiest drum set you have ever seen. If you didn't see their festival stealing set at Mammoth Cave Fest, you are in for a treat.

Square Waves has been on somewhat of a hiatus over the last year. We are still mourning the loss of Patrick Visser (he isn't dead, but he moved to Winnipeg, so he is dead to us), and Jeff and I have been playing lots as Endangered Ape. Yet, Jeff got Square Waves into Sled Island this year, and so here we go again! This lineup features the core members of Jeff King and Ryan Shannon (who used to be the heart of Favour, wheras J.A. Brooks was the soul - or was it the other way around?), Paul Lawton (me), and Jane Edmundson on synth (Jane, also of Endangered Ape - so you are basically getting 3/7 Apes + 2/3 of Favour). Confused yet? Either way, Square Waves are BACK baby!
