In December 2008, Tononto’s $100 released the first installment in their 7" vinyl series. Regional Seven Inch sees singles on 7" records released all throughout the country on a variety of labels. The A side of each record necessarily deals with a subject thematically linked to the region out of which the label is based. Songs about cancer treatment in Toronto, work shortage in St. John's, Newfoundland, VLT gambling and the oil economy in Fort McMurray and cycles of colonization in Vancouver, stare the country deep in the heart and tell some truths.

Part one, 14th Floor, comes out of Blocks Recording Club in Toronto, and features Owen Pallett playing fiddle on the B side, and art by Hamilton's Matt McInnes. You can pick it up at Rotate This. Or order it from the Blue House (online).

Part two, My Father's House, comes out of Deranged Records in Vancouver and its release date is lucky October 13th. You are going to freak out.

The Black Gold Demo above is a sketch of a tune we are to record for Saved By Vinyl in Alberta, and it's recorded in movie form by Lenny Epstein just south of these words.

FORNOW
$100 recorded the full length album over the course of 13 hours at the Elder Schoolhouse with Rick White (Eric's Trip, Elevator) and Brian Taylor (Best Guy). "Forest of Tears" has the honor of being released on Blue Fog Recordings, and is in stores now. If you don't live in Canada you could order it through Sonic Unyon.

"No Great Leap" - about death's appeal and "Forest of Tears" and "Careless Love" above are off Forest of Tears. And below, some footage of us recording "Hell's A Place," crafted by Rick White.
