Lethbridge, AB – A distinctly contemporary flare is set to melt away those winter blues on Friday, January 22 at 8 PM and Saturday, January 23 at 3 PM with the second Symphony Extra at La Cité des Prairies (2104 – 6 Avenue South).

The Cellissimo Ensemble will be warming up the room with their musical talents while guests enjoy the works of tango nuevo king Àstor Piazzolla and Brazilian composer, Heitor Villa-Lobos.

Renditions of several well-known tunes, given new life by Internet sensations The Piano Guys and 2Cellos, also feature on the program, says Music Director Glenn Klassen. “If you haven’t checked out any of The Piano Guys videos on YouTube, you’re missing out! Their most recent rendition of Jurassic Park has over 2 million views alone and is just spectacular to see and hear.”

The Piano Guys was formed in a unique and serendipitous way after piano store owner, Paul Anderson was just looking for a fun way to market his pianos. By putting pianos in unexpected places and playing beautiful music, Paul’s videos started to gain a lot of social media traction and eventually went viral.  

For those interested in that little something extra to elevate their evening, the full experience includes a delicious selection of canapés to indulge in prior to the performance.
