Hailing from Victoria BC, the Dirty Mountain sound is heavily infused with harmony-driven melodies and timeless storytelling.
Dirty Mountain is a folk-rock band with underlying blends of roots and
blues to support the sassy and often gritty messages portrayed in the
lyrics. A musical temptress, charismatic songstress, and lyrical
adulteress, Elli Hart is the relentless force behind Dirty Mountain.
Keeping her in line and providing the strong prowess that runs through
the music are Gord Light on bass, and Tom Salter on drums.
Their debut show was a sold-out double headliner with Victoria’s Isobel
Trigger and guests Hawk & Steel and The Half-moon Shine. Dirty
Mountain plans on recording their debut album in the winter of 2016 with
an album release tour in the spring of 2016
Steph Macpherson http://www.stephmacpherson.com
Victoria’s Steph Macpherson’s debut folk-pop EP, “To You”, showcased an ear for melody, and a knack for honest words and powerful
lyricism that was dominated by acoustic guitars and rich harmonies. Her
new album, “Bells & Whistles” picks up where “To You” left off,
establishing Macpherson as one of Canada’s up-and-coming
singer-songwriters.
Steph was nominated for a 2013 Western
Canadian Music Award for Songwriter(s) of the Year and recognized by
SOCAN as a featured artist. In 2012 Victoria’s Zone 91.3 FM named her
their April Band of the Month, in August 2012 Vancouver’s Shore 104.3 FM
named her ‘Best of BC’ and two weeks later Steph placed 3rd in the
Music BC and Cellar Nightclub's "Voice of the Cellar" Songwriting
program. Steph has toured BC & Alberta numerous times over the past
years, with annual performances in and around Ontario and Quebec and
the US West Coast. She has performed at events such as Lilith Fair,
CIMA/Canadian Blast in Los Angeles, Canadian Music Week, Rifflandia
Festival, BreakOut West, Blue Sky Festival, SHOREfest, Pop Okanagan,
100.5FM The Peak Performance Project Top 20 and Main Stage of both Tall
Tree Festival and the Legislature Lawns in Victoria for Canada Day.
Steph has been fortunate to share the stage with the likes of Sarah
McLachlan, Sheryl Crow, Sugarland, Tom Cochrane, Colin James as well as
opening for Don Mclean, Men Without Hats, Hannah Georgas, Jon and Roy,
Jesse Winchester, Leeroy Stagger, Yukon Blonde, Aidan Knight, Vince
Vaccaro, and Jeremy Fisher.
Steph released her debut
full-length album, “Bells & Whistles” on April 17, 2012 with Cordova
Bay Records and in the US on January 15, 2013. The album can be heard
all across CBC on Radio 1, 2, 3, Galaxie channel Canadian Indie and CBC
Digital Channels - Adult Alternative & Canadian Songwriter; her
music can be heard on many other stations around Canada: commercial,
community and college stations.
The back-porch violin is good
and the acoustic guitar pleasant enough, but what makes "Keeping Time" a
gorgeous slice of country-folk is Steph Macpherson’s voice. Move over,
Be Good Tanyas—there’s a new gun in town.- Georgia Straight
Effectively straddling the line between folk, country and pop, British
Columbia- based singer/songwriter Steph Macpherson is looking to take
America by storm with “Bells & Whistles,” her U.S. debut. With solid
writing chops and an ear-pleasing voice, Macpherson should appeal to
anyone who likes piano- and guitar-centric music. – The Daily News

Macpherson’s voice is clear, well-trained and
hauntingly beautiful, and her vocal melodies are deadly infectious. - BC
