Featuring Adam Beauchesne and Jay Whitehead

 Directed by Richie Wilcox

Lethbridge, Alberta based Theatre Outré, brings back their award-winning and critically acclaimed original play, UNSEX’d for October 30 and October 31. UNSEX”d  plays for two nights only at Club Didi (517 4th Ave South), nightly at 8pm (including a special Halloween Spirits for Spirits audience participation version for the Saturday showing).  Tickets are $20 regular and $15 for students. Show and ticket information is available at www.outre.tixato.com Richie Wilcox (Kazan Co-Op’s I, Animal, Angels & Heroes’ Girls! Girls! Girls!) is the director of UNSEX’d which stars Adam Beauchesne (Fox’s Fringe, USA Network’s Psyche) and Jay Whitehead (Theatre Outré’s Crabs, White Gleaming Beach, Thought in Three Parts, My Funny Valentine- winner Best Male Performance at International Dublin Gay Theatre Festival 2012 ).  Whitehead also co-wrote UNSEX’d, with Daniel Judes.  The play has toured to Calgary, Saint John, Toronto, Dublin, Halifax, and has an upcoming Vancouver engagement. UNSEX’d was awarded the Best of the Atlantic Fringe, won Third Street Theatre’s National New Queer Playwriting Competition and was also nominated for the Oscar Wilde Award for new writing at the International Dublin Gay Theatre Festival 2013. Theatre Outré’s production also features the work of composer and sound designer Aaron Collier (2013 Merrit Award Winner for Best Sound Design), lighting design by Rob Stanford and set and costume design by David Barrus. UNSEX’d returns to a time when men played all the roles in theatre and tells the madcap story of two boy-players fighting it out for the role of Lady Macbeth in Shakespeare’s newest play. Both will do anything, anything, to catch the eye, and affections, of the playwright. This cheeky comedy is one part All About Eve, one part Macbeth and all parts E! True Hollywood Story. Completely historically inaccurate, satirically biting and gratuitously crude, UNSEX’d also has a haunting dark side that questions fame, gender, and the truth about beauty.   “Coming off very successful runs in Halifax and Saint John, I’m beyond excited to bring this show back to Lethbridge” Wilcox said, adding that he is “particularly looking forward to the audience participation version”.  Whitehead, a theatre professor at the University of Lethbridge,  is happy to be performing the show for local crowds, stating “There are many people who know of the show and its touring but haven’t had the chance to see it.  So now we’re giving Lethbridge folk two chances!” The October 31st showing is a Spirits for Spirits drinking game version of the play. Similar to the cult classic Rocky Horror, audience members are given instructions when to holler out words, take a drink of their beverage and throw things at the actors.

UNSEX’d is touted as “a riot of colour, action and comedy” (Gordon Farell, EILE Magazine) and as a show that “turns Shakespeare on its tits!” (Brian Merriman, Artistic Director of IDGTF). Theatre Outré’s show is for everyone from Shakespeare buffs to celebrity stalkers to camp and drag enthusiasts, and even that person who likes their humor just a little bit over the line (or a lot over).  Make sure to make UNSEX’d part of your 2015 Halloween adventure!  About Theatre Outré: Theatre Outré is a professional theatre company based in Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada. Description

Theatre Outré’s  has moved to  the new location of  517 A 4 Ave South

Our vision for Club Didi is that it not only be a home base for Theatre Outré’s operations, but that it be used by other theatre and performance groups in the city who have also noticed the lack of small and affordable theatre and cabaret space.  We welcome you and hope you’ll take advantage of what Club Didi is meant to be.

We also envision that our Club Didi can be a gathering place for the city’s queer community along with their friends and allies.  It is a place where judgment, prudishness and censorship are uninvited and where open expression of sexuality, humanity and creativity is embraced with abandon.

Watch for a variety of events from Club Didi including Movie & Cuddle Nights, musical tributes to gay icons, strip spelling bees, Karaoke and, of course, our season of exciting theatre.

Club Didi is equipped with seating for up to 40 people and can be set up in a variety of ways to suit your particular needs.  Cabaret seating with tables or traditional theatre seating are both options.

We have an 8 x 8 foot raised stage available that can be set up or removed as well making our playing space incredibly versatile for performances and events of all kinds.

We also boast a surround sound system, mounted speakers, dvd player and projector for presentations, movies and karaoke.

If you wish to book Club Didi for your performance or event contact us at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it . for availability and affordable rates.

See you at Club Didi where we’ll ‘turn on the red light!’
