Then join a gang from the Southern Alberta Art Gallery, who are planning on an art themed trip May 27-June 5, 2011.
“We want to do a major trip every year. The last trip was in New York. I’d already been there and we wanted to go someplace we were familiar with and where we spoke the language,” said  SAAG manager of  Fund Development Danielle Tait.

It will be the second big art trip hosted by the SAAG. They had 26 people along for that trip.
“We have a lot of the same people signed up for Paris,” said Tait adding they have done smaller trips, including  Edmonton in November.

“It’s been a really, really great experience. So what we’ve tried to do is make is accessible to everyone,” she continued  adding art expert David Coman from the University of Lethbridge will be leading the group to add extra insight and appreciation for the works. But it is not just about the art, it is about experiencing  a new city and culture.

“We wanted to choose a city where there was more to do (than just enjoy art). In New York, we not only saw the art galleries, but lots of people also saw a show on Broadway. So we expect the same thing in Paris as well,” Tait continued adding they will not only be seeing classic artwork at six major museums including the Louvre,  Musee d’Orsay and more modern works at  the Centre Pompidou, Palais de Tokyo plus  the Fondation Cartier pour l’Art Contemporain.

There is a lot more to do in Paris, so she expects people will want to take advantage of the opportunity to take in sites like the Eiffel Tower and the Arc  du Triomph.

Included in the fee is a six day  Paris Pass, which allows free entry into  over 60 of Paris’ famous museums and monuments and attractions as well as transportation all over the city.
The early bird deadline for this trip to get the all inclusive package which includes  round trip ticket, accommodation and transfer is Jan. 25.

It’s going to be a lot of fun,” Tait said adding she is looking forward to having Coman aboard as a guide
After that, only land only packages are available where  participants are responsible for their own flights and transportation to Calgary for the flight. The price increases after Jan. 25. Payment is due by Feb. 25.

“I’m excited to go on this trip with David Coman. I’m sure I’ll have a greater appreciation for everything with somebody as knowledgeable as he is as the guide.”
