Shout Out Out Out Out play fun, fun, fun, fun show

E-mail Print PDF

I usually avoid dance music, as to me, every repetitive, mind numbing, ear shattering beat is like having a dull railroad spike pounded into my Shout Out Out Out Out’s Nik Kozub kicking in the air. Photo by Richard Amerybrain,  but I couldn’t resist hearing  Shout Out Out Out Out play it live, Nov. 11 at the Stone.

But, up first, Jason Beacock, aka Jason Freecity put on his own spin on techno music with his set of original dance music.

He danced behind his computers and DJ booth, and sang into a vocoder.

But for extra musical flavours and textures, he had Devin Gergel (of the Coal Creek Boys and the Necessities) adding  extra guitar, while Felipe Rodriguez added bass groove, keeping a good sized crowd hopping, which made the show pretty unique.

The other members  alternated between keyboards and bass adding up to a deadly, multi- bass powered sonic assault, not to mention the screaming keyboards.

They had the entire audience vibrating and bouncing on the dance floor.

There were some weird vocoder vocals, which I couldn’t understand, but it worked very well. They kept the beat  moving at an incredible pace.

There wasn’t much chat in between songs, other than singer Nik Kozub noting they were working on a new CD and introducing a couple new songs to the audience— one about playing Russian Devin Gergel talks about the next song with Jason Freecity.  Spread throughout the crowd, there were dancers playing with LED illuminated hula hopes  in time to the beat adding to the hypnotizing aura of the band.
