Brenna Lowrie released her new CD to a thin crowd which eventually swelled to about 60 at the Slice, June 29.
She had an interesting sound of dark, “depressing” music which sounded like a mix of Ani Difranco and the Raveonettes.
Evan Eushenko played lead guitar on a baritone guitar lending a darker gut wrenching string to her band which included Jesse Northey on bass and Clayton Smith on drums.
She opened up with a brand new song, then played a few from her CD including “Year Of the Rabbit ’ and “Modern Times,” and a couple she didn’t give the titles too.
She noted her parents in the audience and that her dad was celebrating his birthday.
“I’d like to dedicate a song to you, but they’re all kind of depressing,” she said.
Redrum Triumph played their usual strong spooky set set to open the show.
Steve Foord and Kelsey Jesperson sang a gospel song a cappella and switched between guitar, mandolin and violin. They brought Evan Eushenko on stage to play some lap steel guitar for a song and ended with the last “two out of three songs” about zombies and killing zombies.
