Pat LePoidevin explored his American roots on his new CD “American Fiction.”

He and friend Lewis Smith decided to draw on their experiences  living in rural Canada by writing about similarly sized American cities, though they had never actually visited them.

“Half of our families are from the United States,” LePoidevin said.

“There are similarities. How people in small towns (in the United States) look at baseball is how we look at hockey,” he said.
“ But the cities we chose were totally random. We handpicked 10  cities and built songs from the stories,” he said.

“It was fun,” he continued adding they have been working on the project for the past two years.
While he has toured the United States, he hasn’t played in the cities he was writing about.

“It would be pretty exciting  to do though, he said.

They have just begun a long tour in Dawson City, Yukon.

“We started our tour in Dawson City because we had to pick up our drummer  Matt Sardi,” he said.

He is excited to come back to Lethbridge.
“It will be an interesting show because we’re hosting an open mic. So we’ll be playing for about an hour,” he said.
