If the cancellation of South Country Fair this summer was among your summer plans, then get your South Country Fair fix online with the Dogstar sessions taking place throughout November on the South Country Fair Facebook page.

The live concert series features several of artists who were scheduled  to perform at this year’s Fair.

“We were going to start them during the summer, but a lot of other festivals were doing a similar thing. So we decided to hold off until winter when people really need something like this,” said South Country Fair organizer Gillian Moranz.
“And it was nice out, so people were out enjoying the weather,” she continued, noting the South Country Fair hired these artists specifically to play these special sessions.

The sessions begin Nov. 7 with William Prince performing at 7:30 p.m. MST, followed by  Terra Lightfoot at 8:40 p.m. Artists performing solo shows including Nia with Lise on Sunday, Nov. 8 at 2:30 and Emily Triggs, on Nov. 14 at 7:30 p.m., . C.R. Avery plays a solo show on Nov. 21 at 7:30 p.m., and Peter and the Wolves play Saturday, Nov. 28 at 7:30 p.m.

“We definitely made it work,” she said, noting the artists are getting paid despite the challenges of not having a Fair this year and grant issues.

There are also a couple of workshops scheduled.

“These are songwriter in the rounds like you’d see at South Country Fair, Moranz said.

The first SCF session is Sunday, Nov. 15 at  2:30 p.m. featuring  Kris Demeanor, Brooke Wylie and Mark Sadlier-Brown.

Robyn Lilley hosts a wellness workshop, Sunday, Nov. 22 at 2:30 p.m.

And John Wort Hannam, Shaela Miller and Ryland Moranz play the last SCF session on Sunday, Nov. 29 at 2:30 p.m.
The entire line up is posted at http://southcountryfair.com/the-dogstar-sessions/
All shows are free to watch, though there will be a  donation box set up.

“If people want to donate  $10 or something, we’d really appreciate it to help us put on these events,” she said, adding it is too early to consider a South Country Fair this summer.

“We’re going to wait and see how things look. We aren’t even sure if we’ll be able to see our families for Christmas right now,” she said, adding they will examine the situation in January.
