Dynamic rock band blends swing and reggae into a fresh retro experience.
A dynamic rock quartet with a heart full of love, Redgy Blackout’s diversity defines their sound which ranges from funk and swing to reggae and rock. Their debut album, The Leap, lays a solid foundation for a band standing at the edge of its career and ready to jump. Redgy came to life from a chance meeting between Pat and Scott in 2006 at The Purple Crab on Main Street in East Vancouver.
‘The Leap’ is about looking life square in the eye and living a more aware life on planet Earth, a world in which we are all living. It features banjo and guitar from Jeremy Breaks along with Scott Perrie on trumpet and vocals. With Colin Medhurst on bass and Pat Poirier on drums, it all fuses together into a fresh retro sound. They took ‘The Leap’ to college radio this summer and had spins on over 150 stations across North America. They charted in Louisiana, in New York City on the renowned M3 radio and in Colorado, where they had a 1 with their song “Nothing at All”. They shared the stage with Randy Backman, Sean Verraught and Jim Byrnes when they won the opportunity to play at GM Place for the opening ceremony of the World Police and Fire Games. At the Vancouver International Jazz Festival they played to a full house and during the past two years they have appeared at many of Vancouver’s top venues including The Railway Club, The Biltmore and The Media Club. In 2008 they opened for Hedley at the CN center in Prince George. Currently they are booking a tour through Western Canada in February 2010 with an eye on touring across Canada this coming spring/summer.
