Malibu Knights http://www.malibuknights.com/

Last year saw Kelowna based rock trio Dan Harden, Dean Irving and Rod Anderson The Malibu Knights perform on over 180 stages in Western Canada, opening for huge acts like Bon Jovi, Kid Rock, Bif Naked, Mariana’s Trench, and many others. This rock trio plays everything from stadiums filled with 40,000+ people to small intimate venues. The Malibu Knights love life on the road and practically live in the studio when they aren’t touring. 2011 will see the release of their 3rd full length album in 3 years. If you have ever had the chance to see them live you can’t deny the energy, musicianship, professionalism, and smiles these young Canadians bring to the stage. Keep up to date at www.MalibuKnights.com or follow them on all of the popular social networking sites and make sure you check them out in 2011 at a venue near you.

Silo
http://www.thesilonation.com/

Webster’s dictionary defines SILO as “an underground structure for housing a guided missile”. Considering the momentum and success that SILO, a rock band hailing from Calgary, Alberta, has achieved, they may want to consider a name change; because The SILO NATION has exploded into one of the most anticipated live show experiences currently taking over the Canadian indie music scene. Following their latest release Bad Luck, SILO has become well known for their high energy live performances. Referred to as “One of the best live performances I have ever seen,” by a Calgary music promoter, SILO’s music and stage presence has opened up some very notable opportunities for the band.
In November 2010, SILO opened for Juno nominated Econoline Crush at the Calgary stop of their reunion tour. The buzz created from that single show landed SILO a slot at the Boonstock 2011 Music Festival. The honor of playing Boonstock was one thing, but when SILO learned they would be opening for their idol’s Five Finger Death Punch on Canada Day, SILO didn’t hold back, rocking one of their best performances to date. Playing for a crowd of 20,000+ fans, and sharing the stage with other rock greats such as Three Days Grace, Seether, and My Darkest Days, the Boonstock Music Festival was added as one of the band’s favorite shows to date.
Following Boonstock, SILO headed out to Salmon Arm, B.C. in July 2011 to headline the fair-grounds stage at the first annual Sturgis North Motorcycle Rally and Music Festival. SILO was honored to share the stage with rock legends Nazareth, Helix, Prism, and Steppenwolf.
SILO’s current album, Bad Luck speaks to all musical genres. Blazing guitars and percussion can be heard on songs such as “Epic”, and “Rage”, to melodic and haunting musical stories from tracks such as their previous release “Paper Notes” and “Devil in Disguise”. “Bad Luck” considered to be a fan favorite, is currently SILO’s top grossing song on iTunes.
SILO will finish their current Bad Luck tour, appearing in venues across Canada, specifically Alberta, Saskatchewan, and British Columbia. SILO also plans to travel to the North West Territories in October 2011, to attend BreakOut West 2011. A highlight for SILO will be their attendance at Canada Music Week 2012, held in Toronto, Ontario.

The Stone Cartel http://www.myspace.com/thestonecartel

The Stone Cartel - Biography. You know the feeling. Your in the crowd. The room is electric. You stand sandwiched between perfect strangers who are just as sweaty as you are. As the house lights go down, the blood falls to your feet and the hair on the back of your neck stands straight. Your attention is focused in one direction. The perfect moment of anticipation. As the curtain falls, you fall helplessly into the band and its music. The perfect balance of sonic power and emotion. And without inhibitions, or fear of consequence, you are free to enjoy the miracle your fore fathers named Rock and Roll. This means everything to a rock band. It is their duty. Seeking to pay forward the inspiration the music of another generation had passed on to them. The push of energy from a crowd that flows through guitars and drums and massive speakers, all to be delivered right back to them. When it comes to The Stone Cartel, this is what they live for. The Stone Cartel is comprised of George Warren on lead vocal and guitar, Carl Hibbs on lead guitar, with bass player Mike Churchill and drummer Ben Samson rounding out the rhythm section. The story is not an easy one to tell. The history of this “new band” spreads wide, almost twenty years. The band gets its name by way of simplicity. During weeks of brainstorming, floating through a sea of band names and hand-drawn logos, the boys asked themselves “what are we?”. The answer – A Rock Group. Nothing more and nothing less. Well, Rock = Stone and Group = Cartel. From there on in, this rock group was called The Stone Cartel. Attention seems to be growing for the band. Local radio stations are taking notice, after the bands demo single “Walking On Water” made it on to Alberta’s Rock 104 FM-Top 6 At 6. In April 2010, the band was invited to open for alternative rock legends Everclear. The band added the title “Cross Canada” to their resume, being invited to MUSICFEST 2010 in Newfoundland. Taking it one step further, the band started production on the full length album, working with Engineer/Producer Johnny Gasparic at MCC Studios in Calgary. Release of the album is set for November 2010. “Riveting and wreckless”. “Fist pumping, Ass shaking, Good time Rock and Roll”. These are just a few of the comments swirling about the Calgary based four piece rock powerhouse. With the sound of searing vocals, scorching guitar licks, and hard driving backbeats, The Stone Cartel is a must see for all lovers of live rock.
