With a nonstop extensive tour schedule since June 2011 that has taken them throughout Alberta, British Columbia and Saskatchewan, The Coal Creek Boys are working their way into a permanent slot in the Canadian music scene the old fashioned way, by putting blisters on their hands. Already now booked well into 2013, the band is steadily gaining popularity, on both Commercial, and non-commercial Radio, with Highlights on top 40 radio, and a CKUA, CKUL, Sun Country FM 99.7, and CBC radio.
Having reached over 17,000 Sales and downloads in Canada, and the United States with their Debut Album ‘Hard at it in old Town’, The boys are excited to be releasing their new Album, ‘Rose Town” on a limited 2 disk CD, and a special edition 12’ 33/RPM Vinyl Album this May 2013.
Singer / songwriter, and front man, Johnpaul Smith, alongside multi-instrumentalist, Dino Scavo, have based The Coal Creek Boys music and successes around a tremendous amount of hard work and endless dedication. They released The Coal Creek Boys debut album 'Hard at it in Old Town' in February of 2012. They have since gained a large fan base in the southern United States, Canada, and Mexico, of all places. With a promising upswing of strong sales from both online and at live performances, roughly 90% of hard copy album sales are mailed to the United States weekly. ITunes is also still standing strong in single downloads. With close to 7000 hardcopies of the Coal Creek Boys debut album sold, it’s a safe bet that their second album, ready to be released in 2012 / 2013, will score favorable numbers as well.
Songs like Old No.7 and Snow are still selling strongly in North America. The songs are even tabbed out on more than a few different guitar tab websites. In addition, they have been approached with offers to feature their music on international TV show soundtracks. It’s quite safe to say that the boys have made their mark in the past year!
2012 has seen The Coal Creek Boys play and perform at over 130 venues, casinos and festivals. 15 Shows at 3 different venues in Calgary during the Calgary Stampede. They came in second place at the Calgary Folk Festival song writing competition with their song, Snow. They proudly shared the stage with George Canyon, Hey Romeo, Library Voices, Julian Austin, as well as many other great musicians and artists. With over 45 original songs in their set list, which also include many upbeat and fun classic cover songs, from Mississippi John Hurts, The Band, Bob Dylan, Steve Earle right to Waylon Jennings, The Coal Creek Boys have no contention at keeping the stage and audience engaged, dancing and sharing a good time.
