Ellen Doty Quartet http://www.ellendoty.com
Ellen Doty, originally from Okotoks, Alberta, has been singing and
performing since the age of 5. She joined her local church choir at the
age of 7 and she also began competing in the Youth Talent Showdown at
the Calgary Stampede at this young age. Since then, she has continued to
pursue her musical talents as a performer and songwriter. She took
Vocal Jazz at Carleton University in Ottawa and was
selected to perform in the Talent Showcase there as well as at the
Canadian University Music Society Congress in the summer of 2009. She
has now returned to Calgary and is taking a music minor along with her
geology major at the University of Calgary. She performs 3-4 times per
week in Calgary at various venues and just returned from her first
concert in New York after having the pleasure of working with Dave
Mancini. She recorded a demo this past August and is currently working
towards a pop release for early in 2013.
“Ellen Doty is a
rising star on the Canadian music scene. The uniquely intimate, sultry
and bluesy quality of her vocal style is utterly captivating. A talent
to watch!”
