Jamie Problem - lead singer & drummer
Shawna Heist - guitar and yelly backups
“This rudimentary guitar & drum duo from Canada belts out simple rhythms and straight ahead garage band (in the '77 sense) punk tunes."
(K. Sanderson, MaximumRNR, November 2014 issue)
A punk-garage nightmare from WAY out there, A.D. will go where no
2-piece has ever gone before. Their stripped down sound ranges from punk
to garage to old school hardcore punk to any punk in between with surf
influences and lots of screaming vocal energy.
Jamie Problem
hits his head as he pounds on the drums and belts out the lead vocals to
Shawna Heist’s riffing, rhythmic, percussive guitar played loud
through two amps. Shawna’s vocal harmonies add attitude, aggression and
yelling in varying degrees.
Jamie’s and Shawna’s paths
crossed many times in the Toronto-Hamilton punk scene of the 1990’s when
their then separate bands played shows together. The two lost touch
around the turn of the century, then re-met in 2012 through a random
cosmic encounter and quickly discovered that they are on the same
musical quest. So, in April 2013 they formed a two-piece because it was
the quickest and most efficient way to disseminate their message. But
there was a catch. Since both members are originally guitar players,
Jamie decided it was time to showcase his latent drum talents in this
new band and Artificial Dissemination’s bare-bones approach was born.
Artificial Dissemination is from way out there but the music is here.
