Calling all gamers and lovers of the unknown!
Video games and the planets set to intrigue audiences.

Lethbridge, AB – Video games and outer space don’t typically come to mind when you think of classical music, but that will change this November 16 with the Lethbridge Symphony Orchestra’s Symphony Series 2 - Out of This World.

Audiences can be assured that their journey across the galaxy and into oblivion will be one for all music tastes says Executive Director, Nick Sullivan.

“This performance is both an aural and visual spectacle which is really exciting, both for us as musicians, as well as the audience. We’ve even incorporated accordion virtuoso Michael Bridge, who has played with the Boston Pops Orchestra and to crowds of thousands at events like the Calgary Stampede. He’s definitely one performer that you don’t want to miss, and from right in our own backyard.”

Composer William Bridges’ lively Saturday Night Dance in Canada tells a great story from the 1800s, “…drawing on melodies from the different cultures of the folks who homesteaded in Canada,” notes the Empress, Alberta native. Some of Astor Piazzolla’s most recognised tangos offer a further nod to our country’s diversity and also showcase accordionist Bridge’s talent.

Playing Holst’s iconic The Planets to the accompaniment of some rarely seen images from the Hubble space telescope lends a dash of the other-worldly, while Ralph Ford’s Video Games Live Suite incorporates the virtual of today’s reality. The LSO’s second performance of the season will be at Southminster United Church on Monday, November 16, 2015 at 8 PM.

Tickets for Out of This World range from $25 - $75, and are available anytime at http://www.lethbridgesymphony.org/tickets/ or call 403.328.6808 Monday through Friday, 1 - 5 PM. Flexible subscription packages are still available, and audience members aged 5-14 are eligible for Children’s Pass tickets. Anyone ages 15-29 can sign up for the LSO Access Pass for discounted tickets throughout the season.
