Lethbridge, AB: The Lethbridge Community Brass Choir, under the direction of Dr. Josh Davies, presents Colours of Brass on Thursday, April 21 at La Cité de Prairies at 7pm.

The Brass Choir will perform an eclectic mix of brass music, ranging from baroque to contemporary. The concert includes works by one of the most influential composers of the late 1500s and early 1600s – Giovanni Gabrieli (1554-1612). Gabrieli’s choral works lends itself to brass choir as each of the different ranges of voices is represented by the different ranges of each of the brass instruments. Other works on the program include Dukas’ Fanfare from La Peri, Husa’s Divertimento, Heap’s Hide and Seek, and Biebl’s Ave Maria. This concert is not to be missed.

The Lethbridge Community Band was formed in 1987 to fill a void in the Lethbridge music scene; namely, to provide a learning and performance outlet for brass, woodwind and percussion players of all ages. 2012-13 marked our 25th Anniversary of offering music to Southern Alberta.

Since its inception, the Society has grown to become a valued cultural asset of Southern Alberta, having offered performances to thousands of concert patrons, schools and students.
